Internally designated Type 8E, it rides on the Volkswagen B6 (PL46) platform. The car's styling was inspired on the C5 (second-generation) Audi A6.

The longitudinally placed 1.8 liter 20-valve turbo utilizes a BorgWarner KKK K03 series turbo charger with integrated waste gate that is feeding the engine through a single side-mount air-to-air charge air cooler. The engine is equipped with 299cc/min fuel injectors operating at a fuel pressure of 3 bar. The factory installed 2.25" turbo back exhaust system with catalytic converter is a major restriction.

AutoSpeed offers 2 solutions for Stage 1 customers.

Stage[1] consists of a software upgrade only, no additional parts are required. The software is calibrated to maximize performance while operating within the stock fuel injectors' flowrates and stock turbo efficiency range. The longitudinally placed 1.8 liter 20-valve turbo utilizes 299cc/min fuel injectors, compared to 317cc/min fuel injectors equipped in the transverse version. The smaller injectors become a limitation when trying to run higher boost pressures.

Stage[1Plus] software requires a hardware upgrade consisting of 372cc/min fuel injectors from the Audi TT 225 HP engine or equivalent 380cc (not included in price). The additional fueling provides additional head room and allows for a higher boost level over 4000rpm, where the stock 299cc fuel injectors become fully saturated running potentially unsafe injector duty cycles.

20psi Peak Boost to 11psi by redline, Rev limiter set to 7200rpm, Speed limiter removed, Multifunction Display recalibrated to correctly display mpg consumption
